My photography has steered me in a direction that I never thought possible, I’ve built amazing relationships with my local tourism board, Christchurch NZ, I work exclusively and frequently with New Zealand’s most popular rental company Trekker Adventures but the relationship that takes the cake for me is the one I’ve forged with Canon New Zealand, with the support of Canon I’ve created images at a level that simply wouldn’t be possible without them both locally and abroad, most notably in Iceland where I walked away with images that I will be happy with for the rest of my life.
Moving forward I have ambitions to travel more often both locally and abroad, particularly to cold mountainous place as I try and put my make on the photography world by sharing both new places and different perspectives on old favourites.
From a young age I’ve always loved travelling from my first trip to Fiji as a toddler and years spent exploring the deserts of Arabia as a teenager right up to my latest trip to Iceland in the sub-arctic though it wasn’t up until the early years of my adulthood that photography became a creative outlet. Growing up, the schooling systems I was involved with were very book based and didn’t breed much passion for creating be it with photographs, music or any of the other arts, it wasn’t until I moved out from home and really had some time to discover myself that I found this underlying passion for taking photographs.
Driving around the South Island of New Zealand its so easy to be inspired, the mountains in particular have always captured my heart, on clear days you can sit back and admire them towering high above you, as the bad weather sets in you’re able to watch the mountain tops become enveloped in cloud and mist before bursting through in the most dramatic manner. Very quickly this passion developed and grew significantly with me being able to create a port folio of images in a wide range of genres. Although landscapes are my forte from both the ground and in the sky during the day and the dark of night I’ve expanded into portraiture and product photography evolving a style that I feel is quite unique to myself.
